"Here is the Southwestern Desert" is a great read-aloud to go with any theme unit on the Sonoran Desert. I liked it because it was a nice contrast with the straight reporting text of the Pathways main theme book "Cactus Hotel". "Here is the Southwestern Desert"|From School Library Journal|Kindergarten-Grade 2?Information on the Sonoran desert is presented in a cumulative fashion a la The House That Jack Built, e.g., "Here is the lizard/who is spied by the hawk/that perches on the cactus/that is covered with spines..."
